PEGGY JOYCE BROYLES 3/18/1933 - 12/30/2013 Peggy Joyce Broyles, born on March 18, 1933, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 30, 2013. Peggy was born to William and Virginia Benson in Huntington, West Virginia. She was one of eight children and was the oldest daughter. She was married to Paul Broyles for 62 years until his passing 15 months ago. Peggy's most distinctive characteristic, along with her sweet, Southern, West Virginian accent, was her love of children. She helped her mother raise her seven siblings and then raised five children of her own with her husband, as well acting as foster parent to twenty or thirty under-privileged children in the 1960s and 1970s. As her children brought home grandchildren, she actively participated in and was often primarily responsible for raising her eight grandchildren; but her love of children didn't stop there; until failing health made it impossible, she even helped raise several of her great-grandchildren. The word "Mother" applied to her from her early teens (before she had children of her own) until her late seventies; and, she was a wonderful Mother, teaching many lessons of kindness and generosity to others and fairness and equality to all. Peggy had a smile that could light up a room and her laugh was contagious. Peggy is survived by her children, Pauline, Sam, Nancy, Karen, and Joseph; her grandchildren, Amy, Joe, Jennifer, Sharee, Steven, Joshua, Tatum, and Jacob; her great-grand- children Andrew, Isabella, Edris, Chase, Paul, Matix, Morgan, Peyton, Kyndall, and Atticus. She also leaves behind two sisters, Margie and Rita, one brother, Gary, and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for the unconditional love that she showed all those that loved her and that she taught to the many children she helped raise. She suffered for many years from Alzheimer's disease. It may have taken her memories, but her sweet spirit never changed. Funeral services will be held January 16, 2014 at 10:45am at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside.
