Gene Edwin Loverink
Sun City West, AZ
Gene Edwin Loverink, born September 29, 1938, in Pella, Iowa passed away on December 25, 2016, in Sun City West, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Alice Loverink, and his first wife, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie and her children, Steve (Becky) Jensen of Pinehurst, NC and Lynda (Keith) Webb of Sun City West, AZ, and 4 grandsons; Gene's children, David (Patti) Loverink of Lake Oswego, OR and Elizabeth (Dave) Gibbs of Omaha, NE, as well as three grandsons and one sister, Marilyn Borger of Denver, CO. He also leaves behinds many nieces, nephews and good friends.
His career was comprised of six years as a math teacher in Grinnell, IA, twenty-eight years in the banking industry in Des Moines, IA and finally, he retired from Jacobson Company in Des Moines, IA after eight years of service.
Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered and missed by many. He was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, AZ and a celebration of his life will be held there on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ, and Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church Missions in Sun City West, AZ. Please join Gene's family in sharing memories, pictures and video on his tribute wall at www.caminodelsol.com.

I will never forget Mr. Loverink's 1963 math class in Grinnell Jr. High and how he subtly was able to make you be accountable for your actions without embarrassing you in front of your class mates. Rest in peace, Gene.

Feel fortunate that I was able to re-acquainted with Gene here in Arizona. We had been Rotarians together back in Des Moines and had lost track of each other. Great fellow my sincere condolences to all his family and friends
