Sharon R. Emory
Waukee
Sharon Reay Emory was born to Lowell and Maxine McClellan in Des Moines, Iowa on September 10, 1938. She grew up in the Highland Park neighborhood and graduated from North High School in 1957.
She was a member of Eastern Star, the Clive Good Ideas Club and Highland Park Christian Church.
Sharon lived in the Des Moines area until 1973 when her family moved to the Adel area. She remained in Adel until 2010 when she and her husband, Harlan, moved to Waukee.
Sharon loved spending time with her family and friends. Holiday gatherings always included Grandma Sharon's sugar press cookies. She was known as a wonderful cook, and family especially loved her fried chicken. Sharon also enjoyed camping with family and friends over many summers.
Memorial services for Sharon will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, Iowa with burial at Walnut Township Cemetery in Waukee at a later date. The family will welcome friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Harlan Emory, her son Kevin Howe (Lori), son Kirk Howe, daughter Sandra (Mark) Johnson, and daughter Sheryl (Rick) Fink; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her younger brother, Ted (Jill) McClellan and Ted's daughters Gina McClellan and Kari (Todd) Carlson. She is preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to the Iowa Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, PO Box 8468, Des Moines, IA 50301. Online condolences may be left at www.mccalleyfuneralhome.com.
