Nile Howard York, who was born on September 21, 1914 in Redfield, IA passed away at his home in Waukee on February 26, 2013. He was 98. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m., with funeral services being held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee.
Nile was a farmer in Dallas County for the majority of his life. He also worked at the Adel Sale Barn from the day it opened to the day it closed. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife and was proud to having been to 46 of the 50 states, including Mexico and Canada. Nile enjoyed playing cribbage, working outside, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and in his later years enjoyed making small wood toys and crafts.
Nile is survived by his sons Tony (Janet) York and Tim York, both of Adel; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a number of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Myrtle; his parents Charlie and Faye York; brothers A.P. and Virgil and sisters Katherine and Pearl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dallas County EMS.

I am very sorry of Uncle Nile's passing. I will always remember him coming out to the barn to check on Tim & me to see what we were doing..Our prayers go out to Tony & Tim & their families during this time of sorrow! Wish I could be there!

So sorry to hear of Nile's passing. What a guy he was. He was still climbing a ladder in his 90's. Bill and I are saddened and will miss both Nile and Myrtle as neighbors. Take care. Bill and Dena Forret.

Tony & Janet,
Sorry We won't be able to come to the funeral services. One of my best friends pass away and her fureral is the same day. We'll be thinking about at this time of a great loss.
