Nunn, David Neal - Des Moines
David Neal Nunn Des Moines David N. Nunn, 88, of Des Moines passed away on April 25, 2016. A visitation followed by a memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM (visitation); 11:00 AM (service) on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at Central Presbyterian Church, 3829 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA. David was born on October 6, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lloyd B. and Coral E. (Watling) Nunn. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and then attended Estherville Junior College. In 1950, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. While serving our country, he was selected to attend Russian language school and through this experience discovered that he was the extremely intelligent man that we all knew him to be. Leaving the service in 1953, he entered the University of Iowa majoring in political science. He married (Barbara Matthew), entered law school and became a father pf two children (David and Juliane.) After graduating from law school, he was hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent. In his twenty years with the FBI, David continued to serve his country and was commended for his role in capturing a top 10 ten fugitive during his post in Northern California. David moved his family back to Des Moines in 1971 where he finished his distinguished career with the FBI. Retiring in 1977, David began his new career as a Private Investigator. Divorced in 1985, David married (Laura Howard) in 1992 and the two enjoyed 15 beautiful years together before Laura lost a battle to cancer. David loved her family and children as his own and often boasted about his wonderful array of kids, grand and great grandchildren. After losing Laura, David was charmed enough to meet and marry his third wife (Sheryl Prill). In their five years together, Sheryl and David lived a full and loving life together traveling and enjoying their summers in Okoboji. If asked about his greatest accomplishments, David would proudly boast that his kids had become successful adults. And nothing made him happier than sharing his vast pride in all of the children in his life. He loved and was loved by many. David's family includes his wife, Sheryl Prill Nunn of Des Moines; his children, their spouses and his grandchildren: David and Rosanna Nunn of Carlsbad, CA and their children, Fernando and Daniella; Juliane (Nunn) Ross of Des Moines and her children, Sydney, Jenni and Brandon; step-children, their spouses, and eleven grandchildren: Charles and Lynn Howard of Oskaloosa and their sons, C.J. and Brad; Spencer and Laurie Howard of Overland Park, Kansas and their sons, Ben and Dustin; Lea Ann and Jeffrey Douglas of Burlington, Iowa and their daughters, Stacy and Allison; Scott and Marcie Prill of Bayside, WI and their children Jeff, Emily and Christie; and Mark & Debbie Prill of Pleasantville, and their children Wesley and Matt. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Unity Point Hospice.
