Meyer Shnurman, 91, of Des Moines died Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Bettendorf, IA. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 24 at Jewish Glendale Cemetery near the Holocaust Memorial. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel.

Meyer was born in Lodz, Poland and survived the Holocaust to immigrate to Des Moines in 1950. He worked for over twenty years both as a shop foreman for CW Humphrey Co. and a furniture restorer for Younkers Store for homes, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Beth El Jacob Synagogue and the Jewish Culture Club. He kept current on world affairs and lectured on the Holocaust.

Those left to cherish Meyer's memory include his wife of 68 years, Frances; two sons, Dr. Benjamin (Sandra) and Jacob Shnurman; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Shnurman; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry; as well as his parents, two sisters and extended family lost to the Holocaust..

Memorial contributions may be directed to Beth El Jacob Synagogue or the Jewish Federation.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 22, 2013, 11 a.m. at First Federated Church, Franklin and 48th Street, internment will follow for family only at the Masonic Cemetery.

Michael "Stew" Eugene Steward, 60, passed away on May 21, 2013 in St. Louis, MO. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Austin Layne Funeral Home in St. Louis, MO.

He is survived by his mother, Irma Jean Steward; his two daughters; his three grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 4 p.m. at New Beginning Full Gospel, 555 E. Euclid in Des Moines.

Betty Worrall

Knoxville

Betty Worrall, age 92, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday morning, May 22, 2013, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics of Knoxville, Iowa.

Betty is survived by her children: Dean Jones and Mary Lou Bingaman of Chariton, Sue (Ken) Thrailkill of Knoxville, Sherry Hersbergen of Pella and Becky (Don) Bingaman of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25, at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville, with Pastor Jim Mead officiating.

Visitation for Betty will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Betty's family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting the family with arrangements.
