Couch, Fred - West Des Moines  
Fred Couch West Des Moines Fred Couch, 86, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2015. Fred was born in Montieth, Iowa to Harper Couch and Lola (Stringer) Couch. Fred was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired Revenue Officer for the IRS. He also was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.Fred had many interests. Among them was fishing, hunting snow skiing and gardening. He especially enjoyed being with his family.Fred is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bonnie Couch; his son, Ron Spridgen of Roswell, NM; his daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Wingert of Panora, IA; grandchildren, Rachel, K.C., Shane, Chase and Kate; great-granddaughter, Alayna. Dilks, Jerry - Carlisle  
Jerry Dilks Carlisle Jerry Dilks, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the VA Hospital after a short stay. Jerry was born on New Year 's Day in 1935 to Bill and Marie Dilks in Carlisle. He proudly served his country as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Jerry retired after many years of service from American National Can. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ramona; his children, Bryan (Kay), Karl (Jacque), Denise (Blake), Kevin (Jana), Jeff, Debbie Lovelace, Kevin Jameson (Fay); 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Robert; his son and daughter-in-law, Terry (Lisa) and his granddaughter, Brandy. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League. Lorraine A. "Rainey" Eldredge Des Moines Lorraine A. "Rainey" Eldredge, 79, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1936 in Des Moines to Galyn and Anne (Page) Kilgore. Lorraine was very active in her community and worked many years for the city of Des Moines at the health department and the police station. She is survived by her children, Richard (Kelli) Story and Lisa Story; and 5 grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines. Kari Christy England Vinton, formerly of Des Moines Kari England, 50, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at home from a lengthy battle with Melanoma. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 5, at Iles-Westover Chapel. Private inurnment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Kari was born October 3, 1964, in Des Moines to Frank and Nancy Christy. She graduated from Dowling High School in 1983. Kari married John Darrin England on July 23, 1988 and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Sara and Sami. They made their home in Panora, Sergeant Bluff, Williamsburg and Vinton following John's career with the Iowa Army National Guard. Kari is survived by her husband of 27 years, John, her daughters, Sara and Sami; granddaughter, Alexa Bolstad, her mother, Nancy Christy, her siblings, Lynn Berrier (Charles), Kevin Christy (Toni), Roberta McClure (Dan), Kelly Christy, Anthony Christy (Kathleen) and Shannon Christy (Gina). She was preceded in death by her brother, Shawn and her father, Frank Christy. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Iles-Westover Chapel. Greever, Mary Jane - Des Moines  
Mary Jane Greever Des Moines Mary Jane Greever, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private memorial graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines. Mary Jane was born on April 13, 1943, in Basco, Illinois to Ronald and Vera (Hardy) Heisler. For 30 years, she owned and operated Pat's Beauty Salon in Des Moines. Mary Jane was a member of Des Moines Playhouse and Saylorville Dam Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed cooking, reading and needlework. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Roger Greever of Des Moines; son, Jeffery Heisler of Milton, FL; stepson, Michael Greever of Mesa, AZ; brother, Jack Heisler of Iowa City, IA; two sisters-law, Joyce Heisler of Des Moines and Eleanor Heisler of Franklin, MA; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; aunt, Marjorie Heisler; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Jane Greever's name to the Saylorville Dam Snowmobile Club for Spina Bifida. Hoshaw, Gary - West Des Moines  
Gary Hoshaw West Des Moines Gary Hoshaw, 77, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in West Des Moines. Per his wishes he was cremated and a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Gary was born September 7, 1937 to Harvey and Pearl Hoshaw in Stratford, IA. He married Karen Umsted on December 28, 1956. Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962 and moved to Chicago where he went to school to be an electrician. Gary and Karen then moved back to Des Moines in 1961 where he worked for Biermann Electric and later started Hoshaw Electric. He was a great friend, father, and supporter of his family and friends. Gary was a compassionate person who would put others first and come to the rescue whenever and wherever needed. Gary is survived by his wife Karen; son, Michael (LeeAnn) and their children, Steven and Hillary; daughter, Krista (Jeff) and their children, Jake, Matthew, Mikell and Sydney (Chris) and their kids Brody and Blake; daughter, Julie (Michael) and their children, Raven, Jaedyn and Endy; sisters, Maxine Silvey and Carolyn Iles; and brother, Roger. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis, Dean and Bill; sisters, Barbara Hoshaw and Shirley Clausen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Dale Swift Philanthropic Fund, 1600 NE 44th Ave. 50313, for cancer patient's expenses.

Kochheiser, George And Kathleen - Cincinnati, Oh  
A reception to celebrate the lives of George and Kathleen Kochheiser will be held on Saturday September 12 in Des Moines, Iowa. George William Kochheiser, Jr. 89, passed away on Wednesday June 17, 2015 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen on September 6, 2014. They are survived by son, Kent and daughter-in-law Beth, of Cincinnati, and sister Jeanne Faust of Newton, Iowa. Bill, as he is known to family, was born on October 11, 1925 in Lorimor Iowa to George and Dorothy Kochheiser. He served in the US Army in World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters with the 341st Infantry Regiment, 86th Division and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon discharge from the Army he enrolled at Drake University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in History graduating Phi Beta Kappa. More importantly, Drake University is where he met his future wife, Kathleen (Kathie) in Shakespeare class. They married between their Junior and Senior year of college on July 25, 1948. Following graduation Mr. Kochheiser began his 41-year career with EMC Insurance, beginning as a clerk in the file room and retiring in 1991 as President and Chief Operating Officer. He continued serving on the board of directors until 2008. Kathie was an active volunteer in the Des Moines community serving the League of Women Voters, Planned Parenthood and AAUW. Family, friends and colleagues are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate their lives on Saturday, September 12, from 11:00 am - 1:30pm at the Des Moines Embassy Club, 666 Grand Ave., Des Moines. A lunch buffet will be available. Kent and Beth look forward to paying tribute to the exemplary lives of Bill and Kathie with those who knew and loved them. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George and Kathleen Kochheiser Family Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, 1915 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50309.
