Celina Viola Judge, age 95 of Albia, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Monroe Care Center in Albia.
Celina was born February 21, 1918, to William and Emma (Roland) Kolling in Albia. She married Dr. John Joseph Judge February 3, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. They were married 13 years before he preceded her in death in a tragic car accident on March 22, 1953.
A graduate of Albia High School, class of 1935, Celina maintained perfect attendance throughout high school. She enjoyed watching the kids and sporting events from her front porch swing during her 56 years of living across the street from the high school.
Celina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Albia, PTA, and VFW
Auxiliary. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, watching movies, reading and writing poetry, growing flowers, and gardening. She also loved spending time with family and friends; especially her grandchildren.
Celina is survived by her children, John (Kathy) Judge of Albia, Mike (Donna) Judge of Albia, Rick (Debbie) Judge of Albia, and Susan (Larry) Bartleman of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Celina is also survived by a brother, Bill (Sheri) Kolling; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, JoAnne; and siblings, Henry, Roland, Marie, and Lanora.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Fr. Michael E. Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.
Visitation will open to the public at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Celina's family present from 4 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be led at 4 p.m., provided by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Celina devoted her life to her children and family, and will be missed by all who knew her.
