Charles "Bud" Fisk

Charles "Bud" Fisk, 82 of West Des Moines passed away unexpectedly February 23, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, with his family at his bedside.
In celebration of his life a funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., February 28, 2014 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. A visitation will be held February 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary being said at 7:00p.m., also at the church.
"Bud" was born February 24, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Indianola High School and then went to Korea to serve his county with the United States Army.
He married Ella Hannam June 26, 1954 in Melrose, Iowa. They then moved to Ankeny in 1960, where they made their home for 44 years. He was an employee of Firestone for 37 years, and retired in 1989.
After retiring he and Ella spent many years traveling south to Tucson where he enjoyed playing Texas Hold-em, and was an avid Arizona basketball fan.
He was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, a member of American Legion Post #42, and VFW
"Bud" enjoyed volunteering at the Des Moines Botanical center for 11 years, and volunteered his time cooking at the American Legion and for the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ella; his children Jolee Fisk, Douglas (Rhonda) Fisk, Jayne Strathe; 3 grandchildren, Josey Strathe, Patrick and Benjamin Fisk; 1 sister Shirley (Keith) Hackney, and many nieces and nephews.
