Jupe 84, passed away peacefully July 21, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 12, 1928 in Berkley, IA to Clarence and Legora Stewart. Jupe graduated from Rippey High School and shortly after that enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. He worked for the City of Perry until his retirement, after which he could be seen on both sides of the bar at Mike's Pub. He enjoyed participating in bowling and dart leagues. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his sister Nadine Wilson of Tucson; sister-in-laws Doris Stewart of Boone and Marilyn Stewart of Perry; nieces Jan (Dan) Norris, Cindy (Merrill) Bancroft, Sherri Elliott, and Kim (Dan) Schoenthal; nephews Joe (Lis) Wilson, Kevin (Nancy) Heisler, Ron (Joelee) Stewart, and Jerry (Susan) Wilson; and very special friends Karen Wicks and Adam Stout. He has many great and great-great nieces and nephews also. He joins his parents; brothers Dale and Charles Stewart; sister Madonna Heisler; nephew Jim Stewart; nieces Gigi Kean and Kristi Murphy; and very special ladies Helen Peterson and Charlene Hanlon. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry followed by a rosary. Family will be present after 5 PM. Funeral of Christian Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, IA with burial to follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.
