Dale Decker, 75, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset.
A visitation with family present will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 14 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, December 15 at the Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor. Memorials may be made to the family. Hubert Dale Decker was born September 22, 1937 in Madison County, Iowa; the son of Elmer and Grace (Kirsch) Decker. After high school, he married Phyllis Brooker on April 8, 1960 at the Winterset Christian Church. He was drafted into the United States Army in November 1960.
Dale farmed and also worked for a time at Delavan Manufacturing, Cedar Valley Ford, Wight and Short and Orchard Auto Sales.
He was a member of the Madison County Pork Producers, the NRA, and Pheasants Forever. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling. He also enjoyed riding mules in local parades. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Dale is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Winterset; a daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Mitchell; three grandchildren, Randi, J.D., and Zach Mitchell all of Winterset; two sisters, Marie Porter of Osceola and Lois Dillinger of Peru; four brothers, Dean Decker of Peru, Jim Decker of Lorimor, Everett Decker of Peru, and Lee Decker of Lorimor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Decker and Joe Decker.
