DAVID "DEAN" BABER
A Memorial Visitation for David Dean Baber, 90, who passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at The Village in Indianola, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 11 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
Dean was born in Carlisle on May 22, 1922 and lived there until 1974. He was married for 57 years to his childhood sweetheart, Leota (Wyant) Baber until her death in 2000.
He served in the United States Navy
from 1943 to 1945 in the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit 38 stationed in Kaneohe Bay, HI. Returning home in 1945, Dean started a career as a carpenter and in 1974 moved to Colorado Spring, CO continuing in the construction industry.
He enjoyed wood carving, fishing and the outdoors. When he moved to Indianola in 2009, he participated in all of the activities he could.
Survivors include his four children, David Baber, Bobbie (Dale) Maness, Denny (Peggy) Baber and Eric (Joy) Baber; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and brothers, Johnny and Delano Baber. He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Lee, Don, and Kenny; sisters, Lois and Thelma; and his wife, Leota M. Baber.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at The Village for the wonderful loving friendship and care they provided to Dean during his remaining years. "Thanks guys we love you."
