Flarah F. Day
Time ends and eternity begins…Flarah (Jensen) Day awakened to eternal life through her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 17, 2012.
Flarah was born May 29, 1923 to Martin and Elizabeth Jensen in Mason City, Iowa. She grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and married Grant W. Day in 1942. They moved to the Des Moines area in 1952 where they raised their family.
Flarah was truly joyful and enjoyed writing, cooking, music, gardening, teaching, and public speaking and did it all with an adventurous spirit and artistic flare. She loved being a wife and mother and lived life to the fullest serving her Savior and others.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Julene (Norman) Ivins of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Roger (Marliss) Day of Altoona, Iowa, James (Terry) Day of Goode, Virginia, and Dee Ann (Norris) Bowler of Des Moines, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Flarah was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, grandson, Grant Day, and great-granddaughter, Anaiah Heater.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, with visitation from 4:00-5:30 p.m. prior to the service. Private burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.
