Francis Edwin (Winnie) White was born September 2, 1928, near Keswick, Iowa, the son of James and Frances (Baker) White. He attended Greenview country school and graduated from Gibson High School in 1945. Winnie was united in marriage to Beverly Miller on December 22, 1952, at the Baptist Church in What Cheer.
He was a member of the National Guard for eleven years earning the rank of 1st Lt. After farming, the family moved to Montezuma, where they opened a Motorcycle Shop, which also included chainsaw sales and equipment. Most recently, he bought 8N Ford tractors, restored them and sold them. Winnie enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, fishing, trapping and going to flee markets where he found pocket knives and old tools.
Winnie died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 84 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; four children, Lonny (Sue) White of Victor, Lynn White of California, Terri White of Montezuma and Scott White of Knoxville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold White of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and two brothers.
