Frank L. Fazio
Frank L. Fazio, 89, passed away September 15, 2013. Family will receive friends at Tonini Funeral Home, 2135 SW 9th Street, Thursday, September 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial and military honors at Glendale Cemetery. Frank was born October 22, 1923 in Des Moines, the sixth child of Leonard and Frances (Scorpiniti) Fazio. He was a WWII
Navy Veteran who fought in several historic battles in the South Pacific. Following the service he married Lucrezia (Serra) Fazio on February 24, 1946 at St. Anthony Church.
Frank was a John Deere retiree and was a member of the John Deere Supervisors Club. He also was an early member of the Echo Valley Country Club and enjoyed golfing where he made a hole in one. Frank was also an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking and hunting. Frank was a member of the Bellizzi MacRae American Legion and St. Anthony Church.
He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His memory will be cherished by his three sons, Frank (Marcene) Fazio of Dubuque, Leonard (fiancé, Julie Wilson) Fazio of West Des Moines and Chuck (Kimm) Fazio of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Caliguiri as well as many extended family members. In February of this year, Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lucrezia and was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Tony, Nick and Charles Fazio and four sisters, Mary Leamis, Jessie Hillary, Rose Davis and Carmen Kauzlarich.
