George Haberer age 90, of Boone died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 1 to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. George Faulds Haberer was born on September 29, 1922 at Grinnell, IA to John A. and Edna M. (Faulds) Haberer. He graduated from Perry Community High School in 1940. Following graduation he served in the United States Navy
as a 1st Class Petty Officer during WWII
. He married Lola Jean Bergman on September 16, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They lived South of Ogden and farmed and fed cattle for many years. After he retired from farming he drove truck for Barr Nunn Trucking. He enjoyed golfing, socializing with friends, and spending time with family. George was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Haberer, parents, John and Edna Haberer, brother, John Haberer, and a sister, Frances Christianson. Survivors include his son, Jim (Linda) Haberer, three daughters, Mary (Stu) Klocksiem, Beth (Tom) Henriksen, Kathy (Tom) Eastlund, nine grandchildren, Jared Haberer, Stephanie Haberer, Justin (Caroline) Klocksiem, Brad Klocksiem, Sarah Henriksen, Tyler Henriksen and Ryan Henriksen, Charlie (Sarah) Eastlund, and Dave Eastlund, three step-grandchildren, Derek, Jenny and Kyle Goudeau, and two great-grandchildren, Emmett Klocksiem and Thomas Eastlund.
