Herbert Franklin Ramsey went to his heavenly home on November 17, 2012. A funeral in his honor will be held Tuesday, November 20 at 11 a.m. at Brooks South Town Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines. A visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Herb was born May 22, 1921 in Kosse, Texas. He married Frances Williams of Jesup, Iowa on March 11, 1950. They are the parents of three sons: David of Denver, Colorado, Rickie at home, and Dale who is deceased; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb worked for L. Ginsburg & Sons Furniture for 40 years. He served in the US Army from 1941-1946 and fought in WWII
in England. He also served in the National Guard for three and a half years.
Herb became a Master Mason October 6, 1949 at Home Lodge #370, was Master in 1992, and was Master of Capital Lodge #110 in 1993. In 2009 Herb received the T.S. Parvin Award, the highest award a Mason can receive. He was involved in many other organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fort Des Moines United Methodist Church.
