Jay E. Milner
Jay, 66, of Carlisle passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. He was born in Corydon, IA on July 1, 1946. He graduated from Corydon High School. Jay was a US Army
Veteran and served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War
. He married Eileen George in February 1967. His life's work was as an auto technician and service manager. He delighted in time spent with his granddaughter.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur (Bill) Milner and Betty (Prugh) Milner; brother, David Milner; and nephew, Craig Sponsler. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Eileen; their son, Darby and granddaughter, Hailey of Andover, KS; five sisters, Kay Milner of Corydon, Shirley (Larry) Sponsler of Waukee, Virginia (Jerold) Sheets of Humeston, Sandra (Gary) Stripe of Garden Grove, and Linda Boothe of Ankeny; brother, Tim Milner of Corydon; sister-in-law, Joyce Milner of Urbandale; aunt, Alice Prugh of Humeston; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter at 2 p.m.
