John A. Hendricks, 87, of Ames, formerly of Huxley, passed away October 22, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25 at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, also at Fjeldberg. Burial will be in the Fjeldberg Church Cemetery south of Huxley.
John was born October 18, 1926, the son of loving parents Ira and Carrie (Dobbe) Hendricks in Eldon, Iowa. He lived in Eldon thru the fourth grade and then in 1935 his family moved to Huxley. John was drafted into the United States Army
and spent most of his enlistment in Korea. John was united in marriage to Loretta Fortner on May 18, 1952. John's career included an insurance and tax preparation business and was a branch manager at South Story Bank and Trust. He was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church and was involved in numerous community clubs and activities.
John is survived by his wife, Loretta Hendricks of Ames; his children, Randy Hendricks and Cindy Bourke; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie Bourke, Mollie Bourke and Anna Bourke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant granddaughter, Elizabeth.
