Kelly Louise Wilkins passed away peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 14, at Grand View Lutheran Church in Des Moines with a brief reception following to visit with the family.
Kelly was born November 25, 1969 in Big Springs, Texas to Henry and Christy (Selland) Wilkins. She graduated from Richland High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas
at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. In 1996, Kelly received her Master's degree in theological history from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
After graduating, Kelly worked in various roles ministering as a social worker and for the Lutheran church. Kelly had an abundance of love for her family and pets. Kelly also loved reading and learning. She studied everything from Russian to playing the violin. Kelly's giving spirit will be sorely missed.
Kelly is survived by her sister Erika (Tim) Eckley; her brother Joel; her mother Christy; her father and step-mother Henry and Carol; her nephews Zachary and Ian, and her grandmothers Irene (Hand) Wilkins and Norma (Cole) Selland Derby. The family extends thanks to the many friends, relatives, volunteers, medical providers, and hospice workers who helped and supported Kelly and her family through this time.
