Dr. Les Moore
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Terril. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville. Leslie John Moore (Doc Moore), age 93, passed away on March 24, 2013 at Spencer hospital after a month long illness. Les and his twin, Leland Arthur, were born to William and Elizabeth Moore on November 17, 1919, on the family farm near Terril, IA. He lived his entire life in the Terril area, with the exceptions of college and military service during World War II. Doc Moore practiced as a Veterinarian until the age of 89.
After graduation, Les attended the University of Iowa
for one year before transferring to Iowa State University where he graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1942. Les married Mabel Pedersen of Terril in New York City. He was a Captain in the Veterinary Corps stationed in New York Port of Embarcation and received the American Campaign and World War II Victory Medals.
Les was a member of the Terril United Methodist Church, Kiawanis, a 60 year plus member of the American Legion, and a life member of the Iowa Veterinary Medicine Association.
Left to cherish Les' memory are his daughter, Mary Richards, her husband Mark, and their two children Geri and Soren of Shell Beach, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Terril Kiwanis or the Terril American Legion.
