Marilyn L. Baker
Age 79, passed away July 25, 2014, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines following a reoccurrence of cancer. She was born in Omaha, July 9, 1935 to Leo and Ida Hirschman, moving to Des Moines in 1940 where she would attend and graduate from Roosevelt High School (1953) and Drake University (1957). Marilyn had many passions and careers. She was a teacher; an accomplished artist; a Drake alumni association president; Clive historical society board member; and active member of the Des Moines Art Center, Clive Public Arts Advisory Commission, After Breast Cancer
support group, Heartland Greyhound Adoption, and Cathedral Church of St. Paul. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening and visiting art museums. Marilyn was generous with her time, often helping out those dear to her.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Pam), and Ed (Mary); grandchildren, Sally, Leah and McCall; former husband, Robert; and long-time companion Clancy Lamoureux.
Funeral service 11:00AM Saturday Sept 13, 2014 at Cathedral Church of St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cathedral Church of St. Paul or one of Marilyn's preferred charities.
