Paul C. Curtis, Jr., 82, passed away May 11, 2013.
Paul was born in Harvard, Nebraska in 1931. He graduated from Seymour High School in Seymour, Iowa, the town he called home. He served in the U.S. Navy
during the Korean Conflict
and was stationed in several Pacific locations including Guam and Japan.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul C. Curtis Sr. and Orpha May Curtis; his wife, Annette Marie Curtis; and brother, Neil Curtis. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Sharp of Durango, Colorado; sons, Scott Curtis of Higginsville, Missouri, Mitchell Curtis (Teresa) of Tallahassee, Florida and Brent Curtis (Kim) of Norwalk, Iowa; daughter, Lisa Curtis (Ed Huderski) of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three nephews and three nieces.
Paul was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone, which later became AT&T, for 35 years. He retired for a short time and then went to work for the Iowa Lottery/Powerball before retiring for good.
Paul enjoyed golf, many spectator sports, fishing, and crossword puzzles. He was also a reader for the blind for many years. He was a tireless caregiver for his wife Ann. He was a selfless man who loved his family. Paul set an example to his children and others by working hard and living an honest life. He often told us, "I don't care if you're a ditch digger. But you had better be the best ditch digger there is!"
