Vera Loeta Billington, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
Vera was born on June 13, 1919, in Sidney, MO, to Pearlie and Leota Wiles and was one of six children. Vera grew up in Sidney, MO, and attended Clark School and Morelock High School, completing the tenth grade. She received her GED in 1988.
Vera married the love of her life, Jerald Billington, on April, 5, 1939, and together they raised four children, Carolyn, Cecil, Derrell and Debra, on their family farm northeast of LaPlata, MO.
Vera attended the Kirksville Church of Christ and after moving to Des Moines, attended the Grandview Church of Christ. Vera enjoyed working in her garden, making quilts, crocheting, cooking and most of all loved spending time with her family.
Vera is survived by her four children, Carolyn (Jerry) Landreth, Cecil (Drucilla) Billington, Derrell (Lesley) Billington and Debra (Alan) Augspurger; nine grandchildren, Dolores, Danita, Doug, Cheryl, Denise, Brent, Blake, Paul and Alison; 14 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Vera is also survived by two sisters, Viola Davis and Velva Lawrence. Vera was preceded in death by two brothers; one sister; and her husband, Jerald (1965).
Her faith was the anchor of her life and God's promises the hope of her soul.
Visitation will be held at Grandview Park Funeral Home at 9 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, with a memorial service following at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, MO at 3:30 p.m. the same day.
