William R. Kersey, Jr.

Des Moines

William Robert Kersey, Jr., 73, passed away after a battle with ALS on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House.

Bill was born August 1, 1940 in Knoxville, Iowa to William Kersey, Sr. and Gladys Jones. He served in the United States Navy and was proud to work for Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Plant Operations which he did until his ALS diagnosis three months ago prevented him from continuing.

Bill is survived by his mother, Gladys Jones; children, Allen Kersey, Lisa Kersey-Wagner and husband Robert, and William R. Kersey III; grandchildren, Ashlee, Tyler, Zoie, Bonnie, Robbie, Will, Aaron, Dayln, and Gabriella; and siblings, Patricia, Sara "Cookie", Chuck, Jackie, and Morris.

He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Bonnie J. Kersey; and four siblings.

According to his wishes, Bill's body has been cremated. A memorial celebration will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
