Bijan Zarghami was born May 26, 1928 in Savadkooh, Iran to Alboghasem and Shahbanu Zarghami. He passed away at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines on January 22, 2013.
Bijan married Bulghese Moghimi in Babol, Iran. He worked for the National Iranian Weather Bureau for 30 years. In retirement he planted and nurtured a beautiful citrus orchard in Jonade, Iran.
Bijan first traveled to the United States in 1987, where he since resided in Marshalltown, IA, Ames, IA, St. Cloud, MN and Pleasant Hill, IA.
He was a generous man who deeply loved his family, people and travel; with a kind and generous spirit felt by many. He will be sorely missed by his loved ones but will remain forever in their hearts.
Bijan is survived by his son, Ali (Kathleen) of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Fati Zarghami of St. Cloud, MN; son of the heart, Khosrow Khojasteh of Urbandale; grandsons, Audel (Tasha) Zarghami of West Des Moines, Bijhan Zarghami of Pleasant Hill, Jafar Azmayesh of Chicago, IL and Davod Zarghami of Burnsville, MN; brothers, Feridoon, Merdad and Merzad; and his sisters, Minu and Mehri, all of Iran. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Roham (Davod) Zarghami; sister, Mina Zarghami; and his son-in-law, Abdulah Azmayesh.
A remembrance service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy. in West Des Moines. Visitation will begin ½ hour prior to the service. Refreshments will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA Saturday afternoon.
