Charles B. Sickels, 84, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.

Charles was born October 9, 1928 in Eldon, Iowa to William and Martha Sickels. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was one of the first designers of the Sniper Rifle. Charles was an avid marksman and a member of the NRA. He was a mechanic and worked for SuperValu for many years.

Charles is survived by his children, Ray B. (Jeanie) Sickels, Charles D. (Kendra) Sickels, Harley J. (Margie) Sickels, Steven J. (Stella) Sickels, Kimberly Frederick and James Sickels; brother, John W. Sickels; sister, Martha Ann Bailey; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; sister, Louella; and brother, Orville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held in Batavia, Iowa at a later date.
