Frank Riccio, 89, passed away June 20, 2013. A funeral will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Tonini Funeral Home, 2135 SW 9th St., Des Moines. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 at the funeral home.
Frank was born September 7, 1923 to James and Ermina Riccio. He was an auditor for the IRS for 40 years. Frank enjoyed time in his beautiful flower garden and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He loved to fish and hunt, and playing cards was his passion. He served his country in WWII as a member of the Army and later was a member of the American Legion, Bellizzi-McRae in Des Moines.
Frank is survived by his sons, Stephen (Carol) Riccio and Tom Riccio; grandchild, Traci Rice; two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brothers, Dominic and Charles Riccio; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carmella; parents; and siblings, Tony, Joe and Rosie. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Altoona Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care and support of Frank for the past 5 years.
