Gerald Wayne Adams, 68, of Maxwell passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House, in Ames, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8 at the Maxwell Area Community Center with Reverend Jerry Barnwell officiating. The Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center will be Gerald's final resting place.

Gerald was born in Nevada, Iowa on May 14, 1942 to Charley and Mary (Kitchen) Adams. He was united in marriage to Sharon K. Hohn on July 14, 1962 in Boone, Iowa. Gerald retired from Maytag in 1996 after more than 30 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed many part time jobs, including carpentry, mowing lawns, farming, helping at Golly's Locker, and bartending. Gerald was a member of Maxwell Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years until his retired in March of 2008. Gerald enjoyed his family, friends, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and loved having a good time.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of 48 years; son Michael (Linda); daughter Susan Livesay (Lance); two grandchildren Brett Michael Livesay and Charlie Elizabeth Adams all of Maxwell, Iowa; one sister Ileda (Bruce) Elder of Colorado; and a host of family and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, brother Jerry Adams of Elkhart, nephew Scott Opperman, great-nephew Brandon Munson, and brother in law Richard Hohn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7 with the family present from 5-8 p.m. at the Maxwell Area Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gerald's name.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Gerald and his family.
