Harry passed away peacefully in his sleep March 16, 2012. He was 81.

Born in Des Moines to Helen and Emile Chopard, he was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. After graduation from East High, Harry served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force, after which he returned to Des Moines.

Harry spent fifty years in service and sales in the automobile business with Gabus Ford and Dewey Ford, from which he retired.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul Chopard. Harry is survived by his sister, Irene Livingston; brother, Les Chopard; his children, Michelle Reed, Melinda LeFleur, Steven Chopard; and step-son, Mike Birchette; four grandchildren, Steve, Scot and Sam Chopard, and Kolt Wood; plus two great-grandchildren.

This Wednesday, March 21, family and friends will gather at Hamilton's Southtown, 5400 S.W. 9th from 4 to 6 p.m. to memorialize his life, tell stories and be with his spirit.

Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetary at a later date.

A friend since Amos Hiatt, boy scouts, East High.
In Florida so cannot attend funeral.
