To the Smallenberger Family,
A friend of mine from Des Moines called and mentioned that Mr. Smallenberger passed away. I wish to extend my sympathies and prayers to you. I remember Mr. Smallenberger from Central Life (now AmerUs Group)when I joined the company thirty years ago. He was very well-liked and respected. I'm sure he will be missed by many.

I'm in my sixties and I see life so very precious and in need of being extended. I find comfort in a thought I recall from the hope that God set before all of us, that there are days coming when we will be able to enjoy life forever in a restored earth. Maybe, you remember what Job said, “Man, born of woman, Is short-lived and glutted with agitation. Like a blossom he has come forth and is cut off." And, James sadly experienced this scene of life's experiences, but Job goes on and gives all of us a wonderful hope, "you would set a time limit for me and remember me!" Then Job asks this, "If an able-bodied man dies can he live again?" And, he adds what God promises to do for our excitement, "You will call, and I myself shall answer you." Yes, Job expected to live on earth again with his family and friends. That is my hope and my hope for James and each of you.

Dear Trish and family, our prayers are with you during this sad time. We have such wonderful memories of our dear neighbors in Deer Creek. It was a sad day when you moved, but we knew how happy you would be being nearer to your family. May god be with you and carry you during this time. We think of you often and miss you. Hold your family close now and always. Chris, Mary, James, and Mike Risewick
