E. Jeanette Kemmerer, 92, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 10, at Friendship Village Health Center, Waterloo. She was born August 27, 1920 in Nevada, IA, daughter of Sam and Mattie Nelson Switzer.

She married George L. Kemmerer August 29, 1954 in Nevada. He died April 29, 1987.

Jeanette graduated from Iowa State University in 1942 with a B.S. in Home Economics Education. She taught Home Economics in Denmark, IA for a year and then went into food service supervision at various government cafeterias in Washington, D.C. including the Pentagon. She then went into food management at Knox College, Galesburg, IL. and at the University of California in Berkley. Jeanette completed her work years as assistant manager for the school lunch program in the Berkley public school system. Jeanette was very active in both the Kimball Ave. and former Grace United Methodist churches. She was president of the U.M Women's Organization in the Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member and past president of the Black Hawk County Iowa State Women's Club and a former member and secretary of the YWCA board. She also served Meals on Wheels in Black Hawk County for 25 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Greene of Waterloo and Luann (Bruce) Rickert of Davenport; three grandchildren, Ellen, Lizz and John Rickert; two brothers, Carl (Juanita) Switzer of Nevada and Dr. Richard (Patti) Switzer of Tucson, AZ. and a sister-in-law, Zanita Switzer of Paris, TX.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Switzer; and one in infancy; and a sister, Frances (Robert) Nesbit.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty - Waychoff - Grarup Funeral Service, 300 West Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, and for an hour before services at the church on Monday.
