Kathryn E. (Vagher) Reicks passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Odessey Hospice at Trinity Towers in Corpus Christi, TX. Visitation will be held at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. The family will be accepting visits from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, February 24, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Catered luncheon will be held at the cemetery.

Kathy was born in Bristol, CO on May 8, 1950 to John P. and Kathryn Vagher. She was raised in Gary, IN by her sister and brother-in-law (Louis and Georgia Robinette). Kathy met Tom when he was on leave from the navy. They married and moved to Iowa, they raised their family in Des Moines.

Kathy enjoyed camping, eating out, and spending time with her family and friends. Her biggest joy was her two beautiful grandsons. They were the light of her life. They affectionately called her Doe Does a name she cherished deeply.

Kathy and her husband Tom sold their business and home in December 2011. They were finally going to become snow birds and travel the country in their RV.

She was preceded in death by both her biological parents, two sisters, Eleanor and Georgia; brother, Norman; as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray andRita Reicks. She is survived by her husband, Tom; her two children, Amy and John (Suzie) and two grandchildren, Cajun and Colby; her step-father, Louis; one brother, Jackie (Suz); three sisters, Eleanor (Dick) Turner, Linda (Buddy) Whinery and Sherri Wolfe; countless extended family members. As well as her "Target" family were she worked for 28 years.

Donations are being accepted in lieu of flowers. The family would like to use these donations to help researchers find a cure for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). Online condolences may be left at caldwellraddatz.com.
