Mary Elizabeth Duncan Oltman, 90, of West Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, December 5 at IA Methodist Hospital.
Mary was born November 12, 1921 in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard and Julia Klaus Priebe. She graduated from East High School in 1940. She married Ernest L. Duncan on April 20, 1947 in Waterloo. He died September 28, 1984. She then married Ernest Oltman on April 30, 1988. He died August 14, 2000.
She worked at Priebe Brothers Oil Company for 32 years. In 1971, she and her husband became the owners of the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Store at College Square Mall. They operated that store until their retirement in 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Samuel) Ginn of West Des Moines; a son, Gary (Lucy) Duncan of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Heather Kerndt, Elizabeth Ginn, Logan Ginn, Mason Ginn, Julia Duncan and Dayton Duncan; a great-grandson, Noah Kerndt; two brothers, Eldon (Jean) Priebe of Waterloo and Mary's twin, Laverne (Dorothy) Priebe of Bradenton, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.
Visitation also one hour preceding services at the church.
