Michael E. Johnson, "Dr. J", 63, departed from this earthly realm on March 5, 2013. He was born February 22, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to Emmett E. Johnson and Lorraine Weinman. Being the passionate scientist that he was, per his request, his body was donated to science at his alma mater, the University of Missouri where he earned his Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology.
Mike devoted his entire career to a broad spectrum of animal care and research, specializing in vaccinations and medicines for the animal pharmaceutical industry, specifically feline, canine, swine, cattle, horses and fish.
Everyone loved Dr. J for his wit, sense of humor, intelligence, acceptance and tolerance for people from all walks of life. He loved animals, nature, Texas and Florida beach life and most of all movies and music. Dr. J possessed an immense amount of knowledge regarding current events, history and politics. He was a mentor to many and deeply loved his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Bridgette and his loving stepson, Brandon Boyd of Urbandale, IA and many other extended family members and friends across the country. He was preceded in death by his father Emmett, mother Lorraine, brother Kirk and his loving grandparents, Emmett and Pearl Johnson of St. Louis, MO.
