Milton Pearl, 94, passed away October 30, 2013. He was born September 16, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from North High School and Drake University.
Milton served his country honorably during WWII in the Pacific theater reaching the rank of Sergeant. He served in the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. He participated in the Battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian where he was wounded and earned the Purple Heart. After graduating from Drake University, Milton worked as a consumer products sales representative for Keystone Midwest Company for 40 years. He played a large part in the lives of his siblings, nieces and nephews, and their families. Left to honor his memory are his brother David (Fredia) Pearl of Des Moines, nephews Harry (Young) Pearl, Sam (Cathy) Tobis, nieces Miriam (Mark) McCarty, Barbara (Carl) Zymet, Jill Mandelbaum, Shelli Tobis, and Shelia (Mike) Johnson, great nieces Stephanie Pearl, Celina Ladyga, Carrie Pearl, Shaina Pearl, Mara Bangura, Allie Tobis, and great nephews Matt Zymet, Greg Zymet, Jeremy Johnson, Joshua Mandelbaum, Ben Mandelbaum and Michael Mandelbaum. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Minnie Pearl, brother Barney Pearl, sister Celia Tobis, and nephews Sam Pearl and Lester Pearl. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Glendale Jewish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tifereth Israel Synagogue or a veteran's
