Sgt. Beminio Obituary

Sgt. Anthony "Tony" Beminio

Altoona, Iowa

Anthony "Tony" Beminio, 38, ended his final watch on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2016, at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

Anthony David Beminio was born November 21, 1977, in Fort Dodge, IA, to Frank and Patricia (Sweeney) Beminio. Tony grew up in Iowa City and attended Iowa City West where he excelled in football and wrestling. Following graduation, Tony continued his education and athletic career which ended at Simpson College earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and later the University of Cincinnati where he earned his Master's of Science Degree.

Tony began his law enforcement career in 2001 when he took the oath to protect and serve with the Indianola Police Department. In 2005, Tony transferred to Des Moines and was currently serving as one of the Des Moines Police Department's finest. He took a leadership role when he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Tony also served in many areas of the department including the Metro S.T.A.R. Team. Tony was a humble man who was honored and dedicated to protect and serve the community. He also spent time as a school resource officer (SRO) at local schools, and was loved and respected by his brothers and sisters in blue.

Tony was also a devoted husband to his wife, Zoe, and wonderful father to his three children, Cameron, Haley, and Maddox. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and enjoyed deer hunting and riding his Harley Davidson. Most of all, Tony treasured time spent with Zoe, attending his children's athletic events, and being together as a family.

Tony will be deeply missed by his wife, Zoe Beminio; children: Cameron Beminio, Haley Beminio and Maddox Beminio; his parents, Patricia and Frank Beminio; sister, Krista Beminio; nieces: Jillian Eberly, Katelyn Eberly and nephew Jakoby Carolus. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Geneva and Francis Sweeney and paternal grandparents: Myrtle and Fauncey Beminio.

Condolences and memories of Tony may be shared with his family at www.AnkenyFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Anthony Beminio Memorial Fund at the Des Moines Police Officer's Credit Union.

Patty and Frank,
As I was just reading Tony obit, I just realized he was your son. I'm so sorry for your loss and wish I had put this together sooner.
I will be sending you a card.
It certainly brings back memories of Dick's funeral in Webster City, you all were there and in uniform.
I remarried 27 years ago and am living in Ankeny now.
Prayers and Blessings to both of you and families.
Sending my Love,
Nancy Eppard Pilcher
