Theodore "Ted" Nelson

Winter Springs, FL formerly of Des Moines

Theodore "Ted" B. Nelson, 94, of Winter Springs, FL, formerly of Des Moines, died in Florida on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Grandview Lutheran Church in Des Moines of which he was a member. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Colfax Cemetery.

Ted was born in Cambridge, IA on May 7, 1919 to Eldon L. and Eunice (Sesker) Nelson. He married Enid Wilding on November 15, 1941 in Princeton, MO. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ted worked as plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33 for 49 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, card playing and bowling. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his sons, Theodore B. Nelson II (Nancy) of Winter Springs; and Edward G. Winger (Connie) of Urbandale; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and long time companion, Donella Lint. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Enid; two brothers, Donald and Gene; sister, Margaret Swanson; and grandchild, David Winger.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Educational Department of Local Union 33.
