David Wieczner, 91, of Des Moines died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 13 at Iles Dunn's Chapel. Burial will be at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.
David was born April 8, 1922 in Poland and was the only surviving member of his family following the Holocaust. He and his wife, Janina, met in Poland and immigrated with their family to Des Moines in 1970 thanks to Hias and the Des Moines Jewish Federation. David was a retired systems analyst for Preferred Risk Insurance Company, member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue and volunteer at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center.
Those left to cherish his memory include two children, Tamara (Konrad) Ostalowski of Norridge, IL and Alex (Jadwiga) Wieczner of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Ostalowski, Adam and Sabina Wieczner; and one great grandchild, Reese Ostalowski.
