Indianola formerly of Runnells
Margaret Ruth (Lipps) Harmison was born April 15, 1927 to Mott and Edna (Hastie) Lipps. Passed away at The Village April 6, 2014. Graduated from East High School in 1946. Married to Donald Harmison on May 21, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in the Vail, Nashua, Iowa.
She worked many odd jobs as a young woman before settling into the best one yet as a wife and mother. She served the role also as a farmer's wife. Was always busy with the garden, helping with the chores, livestock etc. She had the biggest softest spot in her heart for animals and recently inquired about the family dog before the grandkids. However, the most important thing in her life was her family and she epitomized what a wife and mother should be. She was a great cook and a caring soul who always thought of others before herself. Her simple words of wisdom always soothed all she was around, and to all that knew her she will be sorely missed. Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was never ending and we know she was on the fast track highway to heaven. She never failed on a daily basis to set a wonderful example to each and every one she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jack, Dean and Don. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 64 years Donald, daughter and son in law Lisa and Mike Mengwasser and her three grandkids, Donnie (Molly Decker), Joshua and Lauren. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Grace Evangelical Free Church or to the Good Shepherd Fund at The Village. A special thanks for all who cared for her at The Village. You all meant the world to her, and I know she meant the world to you too.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Overton Funeral Home and funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in the Lowman Cemetery, Runnells, IA. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
