Mary Pierce, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and long-time resident of Dallas Center, IA, was born on April 8, 1913, and died on April 11, 2014. The eldest of five children born to Francis Marion Landis and Alice Mae (Ward) Landis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Pierce; two sisters, Lucille Benson and Edna Wingert; and an infant brother. She is survived by her son, Glen Pierce and wife Linda of Mechanicsburg; her daughter, Carol Craig and husband Gary of Lawton, OK; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Hege of Mercersburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was a Dallas Center school cook for nearly 20 years. In retirement, she volunteered as an aide in early elementary classes and received a 1994 Governor's Award for volunteer service. A member of the Dallas Center Brethren in Christ Church, Mary served as chorister, Sunday School superintendent and teacher.

Services will be held at Brandt's Funeral Home in Dallas Center, with a viewing Monday, April 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and before the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday funeral. Interment will be at the Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Theological College of Zimbabwe, c/o Friends of TCZ, 642 Cedar Ridge Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
