Terry R. Deaton, Sr.
Terry R. Deaton, Sr., 66, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2014. Terry was born in Des Moines where he lived most of his life. He served in the US Army and worked as a machinist for Eagle Iron Works until beginning his own business, Terry's Mowing Service, for the last 17 years. Terry was married twice, resulting in four boys.
Terry was a man of many interests: including being a boxing coach at SE Des Moines Boxing Club, collecting Hot Wheels, working on the neighbor's race car, riding his motorcycle and being ornery.
Terry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Brenda; four sons, Terry, Jr. "TJ" (Cyndi), Tony, Chris (Cindy), and Mike (Aimee); eight grandchildren, Alysia, Cory and Katie, Brooklyn, Jacob, Tanner, Dylan and Dylainee; three great grandchildren, Blake, Natalie and Ethan; his father, Raymond Deaton; five sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene.
Funeral Services will be held at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014. Burial will be at Rising Sun Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
