Zel Gale died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Zel was born on October 20, 1926 to William and Myrtle Lane in Des Moines. She was the youngest of 14 and enjoyed keeping the family genealogy up to date. She married Harry Franklin Gale in 1948 and together they raised a family of five children.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. Zel was a campfire leader and a cook at Catholic Youth Camp for many years.

Zel is survived by her children, Marsha Selene "Selena" of Boulder, CO., Teresa (Pat) Kasate of St. Louis, MO., Mick (Joyce) Gale, Tony (Amy) Gale and Jeanne (Steve) Kouri; nine grandchildren, Travis (Ginny) King, Audra (John) Crandell, Jenna (Barry) Rosenberg, Krista Gale, Carly and Madison Gale, Sam and Nate Kouri; five great-grandchildren (whom she loved and adored very much); and other loving family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. Burial will follow the mass at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. Family will greet visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Memorials may be directed to Catholic Youth Camp, 6177 Panorama Road, Panorama, IA. 50216 in remembrance of Zel.
