Jeanette Krohn, 71, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa on Monday, July 14, 2014.

Born October 27, 1942 in Cherokee, Iowa, Jeanette was the daughter of George and Violet (Struve) Krohn. She grew up and received her education in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, graduating in the class of 1960. After graduation, Jeanette attended the University of Northern Iowa and received her teaching degree in 1965. Jeanette began her teaching career in Newton, Iowa, spending a year teaching middle school before moving to Port Huron, Michigan. Two years later, Jeanette accepted a position which allowed her to return to Iowa where she taught middle school in Le Mars until her retirement in 2000.

Jeanette was baptized in the Methodist church, and she was a lifetime member of the National Education Association. Jeanette spent her summers watching over her many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette is survived by her siblings, Ruby Grunig of Ankeny, IA, John (Leah) Krohn of Winterset, IA, James (Jean) Krohn, of Elkhart, IA, and Kristin (Terry) Thompson of Merriam, KS. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Daniel (Suzanne Klein) Grunig of Denver, Colorado, Angela Grunig of Dubuque, Iowa, Christopher (Carrie) Krohn of Orange City, Iowa, Jennifer (Scott) Schiefelbein of Winterset, Iowa, Nathan (Christine) Krohn of Perry, Iowa, Eric Krohn, Nick Krohn and dear friend, Michelle Krohn, all of Elkhart, Iowa as well as eight great nieces and nephews, Alyssa Krohn, Brentyn Krohn, Madeleine Stoffel, Grace Kirby, Olivia Stoffel, Neva Kirby, Ariana Krohn and George Krohn. Jeanette is also survived by her step mother, Dorothy Krohn of Storm Lake, Iowa, step sister, Marge (Dennis) Strum; step brother, Tim (Barbie Jo) Weatherly; along with 8 step nieces and nephews, and 15 step great nieces and nephews. Jeanette will be welcomed home by her parents as well as step sister, Barbara (Steven) Schug.

Private graveside services were held at the Storm Lake Municipal Cemetery, in Storm Lake, Iowa.
