Aurora Marie Falbo

Des Moines

Aurora Marie Falbo passed away peacefully in the early morning on Friday, July 25, 2014. She was born on April 2, 1922 in Des Moines to Orienta (Trento) and Emilo Cosimo.

She married Michael S. Falbo on July 7, 1946. They were the "perfect pair". Together they made it through all the ups and downs. Michael and Aurora opened Falbo's Market. They later opened a bar, called the Do Drop In and a clothing store, Leonard's Fashions. They were partners in business and life.

Aurora's business interest never took away from her devotion to her family. Her home was fondly known as "Grand Central Station" where friends and family gathered for Sunday dinners, holidays and parties. No matter how many people showed up, she had the ability to squeeze in an extra chair and fill another plate. Aurora was a wonderful cook, because she made everything with her special ingredient, "LOVE". Her kitchen will be remembered as the place where memories were made and grandkids were spoiled. Aurora had a quick wit about her and a special way of making everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the world. She knew the importance of a good education and instilled that value in her family.

Aurora's caring, giving and loving ways will forever be etched in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her children, Charlene (John) Fritzel, Guy (Suki) Falbo and Joe Falbo; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchild; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Guy and Leonard Cosimo; husband, Michael; and granddaughter, Jenna.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, of which she was a lifetime member. Family will greet friends an hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in order to establish an educational scholarship in Aurora's name.
