Karen Becky Kessler

Urbandale

Karen Becky Kessler (Becky) our angel, passed away from a stroke on July 28, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Becky was born on May 21, 1947. Becky was the youngest of three children of Erlynn Louise Kennedy Kessler and Dayton F. Kessler. She graduated from Urbandale High School and Grand View College and attended Drake University. Becky had many talents. She received many awards for her clarinet playing in high school, winning first chair in the All-State Band several years in a row. She also loved her art and music, and was a devout Christian. She worked for several insurance companies in Des Moines. She also was a member of the Urbandale Garden Club.

She had her daily devotions every day with her Lord and watched many Christian programs. Becky volunteered at the Urbandale Public Library and Broadlawns Medical Center, and gave support to paralyzed veterans. One of her highlights of her life was a trip to Germany with her parents and sister Donna to visit her sister, Linda. She visited Heidelberg, Rüdesheim, Ramstein Air Base, Salzburg, Austria and the villages of Miesau and Hauptstuhl in Germany, and a trip down the Rhine River.

Becky is survived by her sisters, Linda Madson of Ankeny and Donna Kessler of Urbandale; an aunt, Melba Page of San Diego, CA and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise (2009) and Dayton (2012) and her nephew, Jay Madson (2014).

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1 from 1-3 p.m. at Iles Westover Chapel. A private burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for charities of their choice. Online condolences are welcomed at www.IlesCares.com www.IlesCares.com.

The family would like to thank the Urbandale Police and Fire Department for their professional care of Becky and also the staff at Powell 5-Iowa Methodist, Pam, Alex, and the chaplain services.

Becky was our Special Angel on Earth, kind to everyone. She will be greatly missed by her sisters.

Rest in peace dear sister, until we meet again.
