Sandylu Peppin, 65, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Caring Acres Care Center in Anita, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Des Moines with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery.
Sandylu was born in Sherman Oaks, California to George and Evelyn McKeehan. She attended Howard Taft High school matriculating to California Lutheran College, graduating in 1969. Sandylu then attended Valley College of Medical and Dental Assistants and LVN's and received her LVN degree in 1972. She worked for a number of years in nursing at hospitals like West Park and Hollywood Community. Sandylu continued her nursing career in Northern California until marrying John Peppin in 1986. She accompanied John to his medical school and residency in Iowa and Wisconsin and back to Iowa where she was a homemaker. As her health declined it became necessary to provide her with a higher level of care which she received at Caring Acres in Anita Iowa. She was a resident of this facility until her death August 10, 2014. Sandylu is a practicing Orthodox Christian. She is survived by her Husband John, her brothers Greg and George, father George and her stepmother Ginny. She will be missed, but is in a better place.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 6 p.m. Friday at Iles-Westover Chapel where a Trisagion Service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
