E. Pauline Saltsgaver

Guthrie Center

E. Pauline Laughery Saltsgaver, daughter of George and Essie Goochey Laughery was born December 23, 1918, in North Branch, Iowa. On September 7, 2011, Pauline passed away at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center.

She graduated from Guthrie Center High School. Pauline then taught country school at Baker No. 3. On September 14, 1941, Pauline was united in marriage to Kenneth Saltsgaver. Pauline was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary for over fifty years, Past Presidents' Parley, and the Guthrie Center Women's Club for forty-three years. She enjoyed traveling and family fishing trips to Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters; Birtie, Sadie, and Gladys; and two brothers, Wilbur and Byrl. Pauline is survived by her sons; Gregory (Barbara) Saltsgaver and Douglas (Valerie) Saltsgaver, grandchildren; Nicole (David) Miller and Peter Saltsgaver, great granddaughters; Saorise and Celeste Miller, sisters; Leone Fritz and Jean Brabbs, sister-in-law; Margaret Forcht, and many other nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services are Friday September 9th at 3:00 PM at Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center.
