Eileen Anita Harlan Ramsey, 66, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 23 at Point of Grace Church, 305 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee with burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 at Brooks Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
Eileen was born in Des Moines on August 13, 1945 and attended East High School. She married Paul Ramsey on October 13, 1963 and raised six children. Eileen will be remembered as a feisty woman who deeply loved her family. She was an extraordinary giver to all and had compassion beyond measure. She fed the hungry and loved the unlovable all the while providing a loving home to many others and animals. She enjoyed dancing and was always one of the first on the dance floor. Eileen also enjoyed her Native American heritage, including leather and bead work and raised wolves for over 20 years. Eileen retired from Younkers in Des Moines as a Skip Tracer where she worked for many years and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Harlan; brother, David Harlan; and infant sister, Catherine Harlan.
Eileen will be missed by her husband, Paul; children, Mary Ramsey (Ed Norwood), Mark (Becki) Ramsey, Misty (Scott) Cochran, Matthew (Nina) Ramsey, Marshall (Amanda) Ramsey and Makaela Ramsey; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth (Carolyn) Harlan, Theodore (Debbie) Harlan and Nonda Lee (Dale) Hendrickson.
