Wanda Penfold was born on April 12, 1917, in Cumberland Iowa and passed away at the age of 94 on March 19, 2012 at Audrey's Adult Care home in Tempe, AZ. She was the wife of Marvin Penfold, deceased since 2005, and a teacher for 34 years. She started teaching in one room school houses with grades 1 through 8 and taught most of her years in Coon Rapids, IA. Her passion was teaching children through the 'Little House' books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Wanda was always a loving mother. She is survived by her children Wilda Dick and Kent Penfold of Tempe, AZ, her grandchildren David Dick and Laura Gore, Laura's husband John Gore and her great grandson Maxwell Gore. Visitation will at 518 Main St., Coon Rapids IA, between 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 23. The funeral will be at the Coon Rapids Methodist Church on Main Street at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 24. Lunch will be served after the service. The burial will be at the Grant Cemetery, and an additional late lunch will be served after the burial at the Grant Methodist Church.
